Moving house can be a stressful time for a lot of people. Even if your moving date is still quite far away it will be here sooner than you’d expect. We’ve put together a few tips and tricks on how you can prepare to make the process a lot less stressful.
Declutter your house
It’s always good to declutter your house every once in a while but this is most important when moving. You should look at what items you want to keep and if there is anything you want to throw away or donate. You could also look into renting a storage unit if you have items which you don’t want to throw away but don’t necessarily need to keep in the house. Decluttering can also help to lower the price from removal companies as you may not have as much to take.
Consider a removal company
Hiring a removal company can help to save time and take some of the stress off and they can cost a lot less than you’d think. Even if you aren’t completely sure if you want to use a removal company, getting quotes can help you get an idea of the cost. A professional removal company will have experience of carefully packing and handling fragile and heavy items to ensure nothing gets damaged. Pack by room
Try to pack as early as possible and pack the least used rooms first. Packing room by room will help you be a lot more organised as it is easier to see what is still left to pack and it will also help when it comes to unpacking as everything will be together. Labelling your boxes by the room or what is in them will also make sure there’s not confusion when unpacking. Here at Cinch Storage we sell all the packaging materials you could need from boxes to bubble wrap and much more.
Put all your essentials aside
Make sure you don’t pack up your essentials, such as, toiletries, medication and chargers, and leave them to one side. By doing this it means you won’t have to start looking through boxes for things you will need regularly.
Manage your time
Try not to leave all the packing to the last minute as this will cause a lot more stress. Set aside an hour or two to pack up things and remember to take regular breaks as this will help you to keep focused.
Use good quality packing materials
It’s important when packing up your belongings that you use good quality packing materials so that everything is safe. You will be able to buy boxes from many places, however most removal companies will be able to supply you with boxes and other materials such as tape and bubble wrap.
