Hugh Robertson-Payne owns and runs his business, Mr Gas Fires, single-handedly. Cinch Self Storage Bicester have been able to provide him with storage but also some much needed help. 

Over the years there has been a steady decline in the amount of places which supply and install fireplace and gas fires, caused by the rise in online suppliers. Buying online brings with it many issues as, unless you are an expert, you cannot know if you are going to have purchased the right fire.

Seeing a need for his skills, Hugh Robertson-Payne began Mr Gas Fires. With over 30 years of experience, Hugh gives each of his customers one-to-one service, giving them expert advice in helping them decide on the right fire. And then he supplies and instals the fire into their home.

With this, and the fact that he is a one-man operation, comes a need for a place to store his equipment and stock. That’s where we come in.

Hugh actually began his self-storage experience at a different storage facility which our Bicester store manager, Nigel used to work at. When Nigel moved to Cinch Self Storage, Hugh kept in touch with him and found out that we could offer him a lot more.

As our containers are outside, Hugh is able to access his stock and equipment whenever he needs to and he can drive right up to it. 

“I’ve got a container at Cinch Self Storage which means I have my own access to it whenever I need to get in there, and more space. And it doesn’t involve pushing things on trollies or lifts. I can drive up, open up the doors and get stuff in and out.”

Help on hand 

The convenience doesn’t stop with the access to his storage. Our Bicester team is also able to provide a huge level of convenience to him by being on hand to collect his deliveries and let his suppliers in to drop off stock. 

“The convenience of having people there who can sign for my deliveries and can open the door to let my suppliers into my unit – that’s the key thing because I work on my own.”

This allows him to get on with working and not worry about having to come into the store every time he is due a delivery. 

“Nothing is too much trouble for them. They provide exactly what I need. Everything is great as far as I’m concerned.”
