Daniel Basford uses our self storage in Letchworth in order to store his musical equipment. Here is his story and how we have been of help to him. 

During the week, Daniel Basford is an accountant but at the weekends he performs playing percussion in multiple orchestras such as the Bedford Symphony Orchestra, Hitchin Symphony Orchestra and the relatively new Audentior Symphony Orchestra. 

Daniel’s background is in music, having studied at a conservatoire in Manchester, this led him to work as a music teacher for twelve years. 

Music is still a great passion for him, using his weekends to perform and also running his own YouTube channel in which he creates fugues using popular memes. He does this by finding a meme and then roughly working out the pitch and rhythm of the meme and making a classical piece of music from it. Fugues date back to the 16th Century and every major composer, from Bach to John Williams – the composer of the music for Jaws, has written a fugue of some sort. Along with being one of the orchestra performers, Daniel is also the person who finds and books his fellow percussionists and provides them with the instrument they will play. 

This means that Daniel has quite the musical instrument collection and this is where we come in. 

Convenient and easy set-up 

Daniel actually came to us when he was in need of a place to store furniture after a house sale. 

“I needed to find somewhere to store some furniture quickly so I had a look around at self storage companies and Cinch Self Storage Letchworth was the most convenient and the set-up process was the simplest. It is really easy to move things in straight away.”

The set up process was so simple that Daniel rented a second unit in order to store his collection of instruments. 

Convenient access

Our extended hours have proven to be extremely useful for Daniel as the orchestral concert finishes in the evening and he is often needing to put the instruments back into his storage late at night. 

“It’s great that there’s access after 6pm because I often need to come back at around 10pm and drop my instruments off. That’s really good.” 

Our extended opening hours at Letchworth are 6am to 11pm, Monday – Sunday. 

Accepting deliveries 

Daniel is one of our many customers who finds it extremely helpful that our Letchworth team is on hand to accept his deliveries. 

“It’s been really useful having it as a place where I can have things delivered. I’ve had items delivered from outside the UK or larger parcels so it’s really helpful to have it just come to Cinch Self Storage Letchworth where I know there will always be someone to sign for it.”

Along with being there to accept deliveries, the Letchworth team have also proven to be a great help to Daniel, whilst providing a pleasant, friendly environment. 

“They’ve been very helpful and they’re all very approachable. If I have a question it gets answered very quickly and they are all pleasant to deal with.”
